Why produce your own handles

In-house handle production cuts cost & dependency.

Most bag converters buy handles from third-party suppliers — unpredictable supply, inconsistent quality, and margins eaten by middlemen. With Prakash handle and rope machines, you produce handles on your own floor, from the same paper rolls you already stock.

Twisted rope handles formed from a paper roll

Roll to ready-to-paste handle.

Start with a paper roll, finish with perfectly formed handles — flat or twisted rope. No separate supplier, no MOQ constraints, no delivery delays. Produce exactly what you need, when you need it.

Stacks of finished flat paper handles

Sell handles as a business.

Many customers run TRM-2500 and RHM-1000 machines specifically to produce handles for sale to other bag manufacturers. It's a viable standalone business with steady demand from converters who don't have their own handle line.

Complete handle production line setup

Low investment, quick payback.

Handle machines are among the most affordable equipment in the paper bag ecosystem. Quick to commission, simple to operate, and the payback is fast — especially if you're currently buying handles from outside.

Built for production

Simple machines. Serious output.

No complex setup, no steep learning curve. These machines are designed to run continuously with minimal operator training and maintenance.

Paper roll input

All machines take standard paper rolls as input. Use the same kraft or MG paper you already stock for your bag production.

Continuous operation

Designed for shift-long runs without interruption. TRM produces rope continuously; FHM cuts handles non-stop at production speed.

Easy size change

Quick changeover between handle sizes and rope thicknesses. Adjust width, loop size and cut length without major mechanical changes.

250 pairs/minute

RHM-1000 produces up to 250 handle pairs per minute with automatic counting and gluing — enough to feed multiple bag pasting stations at once.

Low power consumption

The entire handle line runs on approximately 14 kW total. Motor-driven simplicity means low electricity bills and minimal maintenance.

Standalone or integrated

Use alongside your bag machine for in-house handle supply, or run as an independent handle manufacturing business selling to other converters.

The four machines

RHM · FHM · TRM · RR.

Each machine plays a specific role in the handle production line. Run one on its own, or combine them for a complete twisted-rope handle line.

Grocery & supermarket

Flat and rope handle bags for supermarket chains and grocery stores.

Jewellery & premium

Small premium bags with rope handles for jewellery and high-end retail.

Exhibition & events

Custom printed bags with handles for trade shows, conferences and events.

Export handle supply

Produce handles for sale to bag converters domestically or for export markets.

How it works

The handle production workflow.

Two routes to finished handles: the flat handle route (one machine) or the twisted rope route (three machines working together).

Route 1 — Twisted rope handles

1

TRM-2500

Twists paper roll into continuous rope on a double station. Winds rope onto bobbins (400 mm dia).

2

RR-700

Rewinds rope rolls, eliminates knots, and prepares bobbins for the RHM at 80 m/min.

3

RHM-1000

Takes 2 paper rolls + 1 rope, forms finished handles with hot glue at 250 pairs/min.

4

Manual pasting

Handles are glued onto bags manually using a pasting table. One worker per station.

Route 2 — Flat handles

1

FHM-2000

Produces flat paper handles from a roll at 100–150 pairs/min. Cuts to length automatically.

2

Manual pasting

Flat handles are glued onto bags manually using a pasting table. One worker per station.

Frequently asked questions

Handle & rope machine FAQ.

No. These machines produce handles and ropes. The handles must be pasted onto bags manually using a gluing table. For automatic inline handle pasting, see our AUTO series (fully automatic bag machine with handle) or the HPA attachment (add-on for existing SOS machines).
For twisted rope handles: TRM-2500 (to make rope) + RR-700 (to rewind and remove knots) + RHM-1000 (to form finished handles with hot glue at 250 pairs/min). For flat handles: only the FHM-2000 is needed.
Yes. Many of our customers run TRM-2500 and RHM-1000 machines specifically to produce handles for sale to other bag makers. It is a viable standalone business with steady demand from converters who do not have their own handle production line.
Flat handles are strap-like and lay flat against the bag — economical, commonly used for grocery and general-purpose bags. Twisted rope handles are round, have a premium look, and are typically used for branded retail bags, gift bags and luxury packaging.
Standard kraft paper rolls work well for both flat handles and twisted rope. The same paper you use for bag production can typically be used for handle production, keeping your raw material procurement simple.
The machines themselves need minimal operators — one person can manage the TRM, RR and RHM together. However, the manual handle pasting process requires one worker per pasting station. This is why high-volume producers often upgrade to the AUTO series or HPA attachment.
If your daily production exceeds 10,000 bags with handles, the cost of manual labour starts to exceed the cost of automatic equipment. At that point, either the HPA attachment (if you already have an SOS machine) or the AUTO series (for a new line) gives you better economics and consistent quality.
Yes. All handle and rope machines come with on-site installation, commissioning and operator training at your facility. Our service team will ensure the machines are running at full capacity before handover.
