The Prakash Speedster web offset newspaper press — 36,000 copies per hour, provision for up to 6 webs, built for newspaper houses running multi-page daily editions. The proven workhorse of the Prakash web offset range.
A newspaper press earns its keep on the print-tonight deadline: enough speed to clear the run, enough webs to carry the page count, and colour register that holds night after night. Speedster delivers all three — 36,000 copies per hour at up to 6 webs — engineered end-to-end at our Faridabad facility.
Maximum production speed of 36,000 copies per hour. The jaw-type 2:2:2 folder is matched to press speed, so the folder never becomes the bottleneck. Engineered for the round-the-clock duty cycle of a daily newspaper.
Speedster supports multi-web newspaper printing with provision for up to 6 webs. Each web prints 4 broadsheet pages (8 tabloid) — so a full 6-web line produces up to 24 broadsheet pages per pass, the capacity a serious multi-page daily needs.
H-type construction with bearers on all cylinders and precision-class taper roller bearings for true rolling. Right Colour Registration (RCR) units with motorized lateral and circumferential register keep every colour in register across every web — page one to the final edition.
The folder is what turns sustained speed into delivered newspapers. A jaw-type 2:2:2 folder matched to press speed — the aggregate that finishes every copy the printing towers produce, fold after fold, night after night.
The Speedster folder is matched to the 36,000 cph press, so the folder never becomes the bottleneck. Half fold, quarter fold and double parallel fold are all standard, with cross perforation and geared slitter available as options.
Prakash builds two newspaper presses. Speedster is the workhorse; Newslight 40 Compact is the flagship above it. They share the same engineering DNA — so the choice comes down to your page count, speed and floor plan.
Both presses are built on H-type towers, a 2:2:2 jaw folder, the SG 50 auto splicer and PLC touchscreen control — so an operator trained on one is at home on the other.

Speedster deploys in multiple inline configurations. The right layout depends on your page count, colour count and floor footprint — from the tightest reel-under-tower layout to a fully extended inline line.
Configuration layouts and line lengths are indicative and confirmed against your final press specification.
Six engineering choices that separate Speedster from a generic newspaper press — stable register on every colour across every web, easy plate handling, and the serviceability a nightly-duty press needs.
H-type printing unit construction for maximum print stability. Bearers on all cylinders, precision-class taper roller bearings for true rolling.
‘H’ Type couple towers — RCR (right colour registration) units for stable register on all colours across all webs.
Jaw-type folder with 2:2:2 cylinder ratio, matched to press speed. Half fold (broadsheet), quarter fold and double parallel fold — all standard.
Motorized lateral and circumferential register as standard. Auto registration with intelligent camera control available as an option.
PLC-based control with touchscreen console. Recipe storage, on-screen counters, remote diagnostic, and one-click tower addition.
Fully shaftless auto flying splicer. Straight-line paste pattern, PID + diameter compensation, lifts new roll from the floor.
The Speedster press is organised into integrated systems — printing unit, dampening & inking, folder, unwind and control — each engineered for the newspaper duty cycle, each controllable from a single console.
The Speedster 2:2:2 jaw folder is configurable for half fold, quarter fold and double parallel fold — the core formats that cover broadsheet dailies, tabloids and high-page-count newspaper work.
Single fold across the long axis. The standard broadsheet newspaper fold.
Second parallel fold for tabloid finishing and higher page counts per signature.
Cross-folded into four sections — the compact tabloid and supplement format for high-page-count editions.
Optional folder upgrades: cross perforation with on-run phasing · geared slitter · 8-web provision · automatic copy counter with preset batch stop.
