Why Superb for textbook printing

The workhorse textbook press. Built to last.

Textbook printing is a different problem from newspaper printing. Heavier paper stocks. Larger signatures. Seasonal volume spikes around board exams and school sessions. Print quality that has to last the academic year on the desk. Superb is built for exactly that — engineered end-to-end at our Faridabad facility, on CNC-machined frames in high-grade stress-relieved cast iron.

Superb Four-High Tower in textbook configuration printing 4 plus 4 colour

Four-High Tower — 4 + 4 colour in one pass.

The Superb Four-High Tower stacks four mono units to deliver full 4 + 4 colour printing in a single pass. Ideal for textbook jobs where every page is in colour — school textbooks, board-prescribed books, competitive-exam guides, illustrated workbooks. Tower additions to existing presses are straightforward and cost-effective.

Cut-off and signature variation across textbook formats on the Superb press

Seven cut-off options for every textbook format.

Textbook publishers print to different finished sizes — from crown to demi to royal. Superb is available in seven cut-off options (508 mm to 630 mm) so you match the press to the finished textbook size, not the other way around. Standard plate width 889 mm (35″), with 915 mm (36″) as an option. Paper width 650–915 mm; standard reel diameter 1100 mm (1270 mm optional).

Superb heavy-duty folder producing textbook signatures

Heavy-duty folder for textbook signatures.

The Superb Folder is a heavy-duty 1:2 jaw type folder rated for 30,000 copies per hour at 2nd fold, supporting up to 6 webs of newsprint and full broadsheet, tabloid, quarter-fold (magazine) and double-parallel (digest) configurations. Designed around the signature folding textbook work actually demands — not adapted from a generic platform.

Paper roll loading on the Superb integral reel stand

Designed for textbook paper stocks.

Textbook paper is heavier than newsprint. Superb runs paper from 38 to 80 GSM with a standard reel diameter of 1,100 mm, and 1,270 mm available as an option. The basic press unit is a four-cylinder mono configuration with optional integral reel stand — the same mono unit stacks into the Four-High Tower for textbook production.

Pick the trim that matches your press-room automation, registration and control requirements.
Seven cut-off options: 508, 533, 546, 560, 578, 610 and 630 mm, all with the same paper width range (650–915 mm). Standard plate width is 889 mm (35″), with 915 mm (36″) available as an option. Choose the cut-off that matches your finished textbook size; the rest of the press stays the same.
Yes. The Four-High Tower stacks four mono units to deliver full 4 + 4 colour printing on one web in a single pass. Alternatively the same tower can print 2 + 2 on two webs. Tower additions are a straightforward way to scale colour count on existing presses without changing the rest of the platform.
Paper from 38 to 80 GSM uncoated, paper widths from 650 to 915 mm. Standard reel diameter 1,100 mm with 1,270 mm available as an option. This covers the full range of paper stocks used in school textbooks, educational publishing and general book printing.
The Superb folder is rated at 30,000 copies per hour at 2nd fold — the typical operating speed for textbook signature work. The optional quarter-page fold attachment supports speeds up to 22,000 cph for magazine / quarter-fold configurations. Printing units run from 16,000 to 36,000 cph.
Yes. Tower additions to existing Superb presses are explicitly designed for — a straightforward and cost-effective route to adding pages and colour to a press already on your floor. The tower module is the same engineering whether installed new or retrofitted later.
Both are available. The SG 50 auto splicer handles reel changes on the fly without stopping the press — ideal for high-utilisation textbook houses. The manual roll stand option (wooden shoe brake or pneumatic disc brake) is the cost-effective choice for shorter shift patterns. Auto splicer is standard on Platinum, optional on Silver and Gold.
Price depends on the trim level (Silver / Gold / Platinum), cut-off width, tower count, colour configuration, folder options and unwind choice (manual stand or SG 50 auto splicer). Share your application, paper stock, target output and colour requirement — we'll come back with a tailored Superb configuration and quotation.
